Why Am I Running For Office?
The simple answer is: It is time for Great leaders to Step Up and Step In!
- Encampments - Unhoused people deserve dignity. That is not provided by illegal and unsafe encampments. I will create alternatives to this unsafe, unsheltered homelessness by utilizing relationships with neighborhood resources, parks and recreation and county/city/state representatives. Together, we will design a plan that targets the root cause of unhoused residents. Everyone deserves stable housing!
- Public Safety- Partner with local 5th precinct, violence interrupters, community emergency response teams, and other public safety stakeholders to urgently and appropriately address safety concerns including crime, drug use and behavioral health crises.
- Affordable Housing- Increase opportunities for affordable housing through supply. Develop a solution to a fair rental market that is beneficial for both housing providers and tenants. Lay the foundation for residents with home ownership goals to have opportunities to purchase!
- Small Business Focused- Provide a welcoming platform for existing businesses to not only survive but thrive. Create a pipeline for new businesses to occupy vacant commercial spaces. Compose an plan of action to help mitigate potential social and economic challenges, as well as implement tactics during construction season to avoid prolonged business interruptions for public transportation, biking and parking.
- Respond to Constituents- I will make myself available to the public and will promptly reply to every phone call, email or letter.
